Welcome to my blog! I am so thrilled to be able to start posting here. Many have questioned my intent in creating this blog and what purpose it serves. You’ll see from my page, that I consider my main interest and expertise to be women’s health. Whether its prenatal nutrition, nutrition for breastfeeding, disordered eating and eating disorders, and diet culture, I continue to be fascinated by the way nutrition can affect the lives of women.
Through my studies in nutrition, I’ve longed for a place to be able to create my unique nutrition philosophy and brand. For now, I hope it can be a place of sharing and place for community among those interested in nutrition and for those looking evidence based nutrition information. While I hope to share my journey to becoming a Registered Dietitian, I also hope this blog will evolve into much more.
When I started working in the nutrition field, and as my knowledge has grown along with the diversity among the clients I have served has expanded, I dreamed of an outlet where I could address the common questions and concerns I heard of could be addressed, and to a larger audience. A place where I could bring light and truth to the ways in which our culture and media does not serve women and their bodies. A place where I could help others discover the truth behind the dieting industry and to help them discover a place where they could find true, authentic nourishment for their souls.
Along my journey to wellness, I’ve learned I have a passion for helping others nourish their bodies. I’ve seen how food isn’t merely food, something we simply purchase and prepare. Food is complicated and intricate. Food is not to one what it is to another. To some it may be comfort, to some it may be fearful, to some it may be hard to procure. Whatever it is to you, there is a relationship, and as most things in life go- relationships can be messy.
In the same manner, your relationship with food can be disordered, discombobulated or lacking. It can be confusing and it can be daunting to try and understand what is true regarding food and what is false. As a future Registered Dietitian, I want to help you see what is true and what is good. I want to help you find what is right for your body and your specific needs.
I am here to help you heal your relationship with food, whatever your past may be or whatever your goals are.
So for now, this blog is a start and that will be what it remains for some time. It’s a step towards a dream of creating a place where I can help you unravel all of the diet myths, beliefs and feelings revolving around food. It’s a step towards a place where I can help others nourish, grow and believe in their bodies.
I hope you’ll stay tuned for my weekly posts on topics surrounding women’s health, prenatal nutrition, nutrition for lactation, the diet industry, intuitive eating and little tid bits of words from myself and others that can help heal the body and soul.
